Disco Nexion

How does this work?

You simply switch off your device immediately and return to life without this technological proxy for bodily sensations.

But that’s too hard to do right now!

I understand. Even if you were born before smartphones and internalised internet experiences became part of every day life, you probably find immense pressure to continue reading this text, because…

Rather than reiterate the obvious,

BUT I JUST CAN’T STOP STARING AT THIS SCREEN.

It’s OK.

  • You were conditioned to read text from an early age and its likely that you now feel incredibly uncomfortable relying on your senses for validation without some form of written, researched confirmation.
  • Everyone else is on their phones/computers all the time (or in every gap between activities, or at the very least, using them more than once a day for essential everyday activities. Whenever you think about stopping you realise it’s incredibly isolating, not to mention incredibly inconvenient.
  • You might be stuck in a stress response. It could be chronic freeze or fatigue, from past events you haven’t been able to run, laugh, cry or sing out of yourself. Maybe you consider yourself lazy, because someone once told you that your hesitation was wrong, not realising that judgement seldom heals.
  • It’s ok to look away now.
  • You might be berating yourself because it feels a lot easier to sit here, ‘procrastinating’, when really your body is trying to protect you from being even more overwhelmed by an environment that our bodies are still struggling to adapt to.

Even if you’re reading this, a part of you already wants to not be reading this.

You can do it.

Close your eyes.

Listen. The music is within you.
