Presentation, practice and play with plants

Respect and relaxation
at Wingham Riverside Reserve (Wingan)
Autumn Equinox –
Saturday 21st March 2026
Sometime between AM & PM
(Probably 10-12ish)
Much of us is overlooked in our day-to-day day experience.
Who are you as an individual?
How do you relate to yourself and others?
How do you perceive our place within the wider universe?
What is your ecological role, and how does this relate to your thoughts, feelings and actions on a day to day as well as a long-term perspective?
Come with questions
Wear whatever will protect you and allow your body to move freely

Or simply arrive…

Take your time. Stillness is a gift that can open your eyes
To the myriad shapes that make up our bodies.
Take a hand lens, or a magnifying glass. Most floral features are finer than you might think.
Take note of everything you sense: Colours, textures, scents.
Take samples sparingly: they are our lungs, our limbs, our private parts. You could at least ask us first.
Or better yet, bring the books to us. After all, they were once plants too. Some fun ones are:
-‘Encyclopaedia Botanica : the essential reference guide to native and exotic plants in Australia’. Frances Bodkin. Angus and Robertson (1986)
-‘A Grammar and Dictionary of Gathang: the language of the Birrbay, Guringay and Warrimay’. Amanda Lissarague. Muurrbay Language & Culture Cooperative Ltd (2009)
-‘Name that Flower’. Ian Clarke and Helen Lee. Melbourne University Press (2006)
-‘Dictionary of Botanical Names’. Don Perrin (2018)
